St Peter’s Namwendwa Secondary School
Number of pupils : 948 (469 boys & 479 girls)
School Motto : Discipline and Hard Work
St Peter's Secondary School is a day and boarding school offering O’levels and A’levels. It was founded in 1985 within Namwendwa Primary School. It now sits on its own 55 acre site, on the edge of Namwendwa village, in Kamuli district, within close proximity of the primary school. Immediately the school grew quickly and examination results were strong. HvSMF Trustees first visited this school in March 2010.
It is now part of the Government Grant Aided scheme and therefore the government provides funds for teachers’ wages and student capitation grants but development of infrastructure is not included. BUT, of the 47 staff members in 2019 only 16 were paid for by the government and the remainder are paid for from the parents’ funds. This causes a huge strain on the school’s finances.
Mr Aggrey Talenga took over as head master in August 2018. He is a very capable and intelligent man, who writes and speaks excellent English. He has the support of the Board of Governors and community and hopes to continue improving the school, and building on the academic standards already achieved.
