Matuumu Bumegere Primary School
Number of pupils : 389 (201 boys & 188 girls)
School Motto : Determination is the key to Success
School Mission: To produce children who are mentally, physically, socially and emotionally acceptable in the society
This school was first started in 1958. When we first visited this school in March 2011 there were two uncompleted classrooms and temporary church sitting within 25 acres of land close to the river Nile. There were five unhygienic latrines in a dilapidated state, the kitchen, head master’s office and store made of dried mud and sticks, no teachers’ facilities and a total lack of water. Still the community turned out to welcome us and a year later we started building work.
Since then we have transformed the school with many new projects firstly in 2012/2013 and then recently during 2019. The new East African Playground and the newly drilled borehole both assist to encourage more pupils to attend the school. We are looking for an increase in enrolment and an improvement in the academics. But, unfortunately, the situation has not been helped by a number of changes to the head teachers by Kamuli Education Authority. Our Charity Ambassador has promised to assist.
