Bukyonza is situated in a remote enclave of the Kamuli District, providing an education for over 800 children from impoverished farming homes. The school started a successful nursery class in 2008, providing an important foundation for children before primary school, that is so often lacking elsewhere in Uganda. This has flourished and presently there are over 160 children.
Many projects have been completed at the school, including a boarding section for the girls. This is so important, providing them with the safety and privacy that they need. We now need to wait and watch the enrolment increase and the academics improve.
In February 2024 the head teacher Herbert Kaima retired after leading the school since 2018. A new head teacher Violet Sanyu arrived and we wish her the very best in the future.
