Nalango Primary School is a large government funded school spread across 6 acres, with 846 pupils and a good academic record.  The head master, Grace Mutalya, is an able and capable man who was transferred to the school in March 2012.  He has the support of the School Management Committee, the Parent Teachers’ Association and the local community.

When we started to work with the school in 2011 it was obvious that this school needed supporting.  There were many unfinished classrooms, a lack of latrines, lack of suitable teachers’ houses, no teachers’ washrooms and no permanent water supply. Since then HvSMF has completed 24 different projects, including constructing 48 new single-sex latrines and 6 new single-sex washrooms, 5 water tanks and most importantly drilling a bore hole, so the school has a constant supply of water.  This will assist with increased enrolment and improved academic results.

This school is ranked number one in the district in dance and drama and number six in the region.

Since 2012 this school has received many projects bringing the facilities up to an acceptable standard. Importantly, it is also the main feeder to Nalango Secondary, which HvSMF has supported since 2012. We hope the school will continue to attract many new pupils and continue to thrive.
