School Motto :Hard Work Pays
School Mission: To produce literate, self-reliant and God loving Citizens
The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund first visited Kifuyo secondary school in March 2008 and constructed the first project in 2009. We first visited Kifuyo primary school in March 2010, completing the first project in 2011. In order to be able to offer the children in the very poor district of Namayingo the opportunity of school from 4 onwards, we decided to construct a dedicated nursery school in 2015, complete with latrines, playground equipment, staff furniture, textbooks and play materials.
In 2019 we added 3 extra classrooms as more and more children are keen to enrol. They are all desperate to get an education even though nursery education is not free. There are 3 qualified teachers, 2 trainees, and all paid for by the community. As of February 2020 the nursery school term fees are now 25,000shs + 3kg of Posho (1,000shs per Kg). This is about £6 per term which is a huge amount of money to the parents but they realise the importance of nursery education, and the children will hopefully benefit too from attending Kifuyo primary school and Kifuyo secondary school, each supported by HvSMF.
